Florida is one of the simplest states to estimate. There is no state income tax on wages, so your take-home pay is your gross pay minus federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, plus whatever deductions you choose. The calculator above runs those numbers for any salary or hourly rate.
What the Florida rule says
The Florida Constitution, Article VII, Section 5, says that no tax on the income of natural persons who are residents or citizens of the state shall be levied by the state. Florida Statutes section 220.02 restates the same intent. So a Florida employee has no state withholding certificate to complete, and employers run no state income tax through payroll.
Reemployment tax is the employer’s bill
Florida’s unemployment tax is called reemployment tax. Department of Revenue guidance says the employer pays it and employers must not make payroll deductions for it. If you ever see a line like that on a stub, ask your payroll contact what it is. We found no employee-paid Florida payroll program in the sources we checked.
Where a Florida paycheck goes
That leaves the federal items. Federal income tax comes from the IRS percentage method in Publication 15-T and reflects your W-4 and filing status. Social Security takes 6.2% of wages up to the 2026 limit of $184,500, so higher earners stop paying it partway through the year. Medicare takes 1.45% of every dollar, with an additional 0.9% withheld on wages above $200,000.
Hourly workers and overtime
Florida hourly estimates need only your rate, weekly hours and overtime hours. The second example shows a paycheck with five overtime hours added at time and a half. No Florida tax applies to the extra pay. The federal formula does treat a bigger paycheck as part of a bigger annual wage, so the withholding on that week rises by a larger share than the pay itself.
Estimate versus pay stub
Searches for a Florida pay stub often mean one of two things: a document, or the math behind it. This page covers the math. It estimates what should appear on a stub for a given pay rate. It does not produce a printable stub, and payroll providers issue those.
Use it to weigh a job offer or to see what a raise adds to each check. Each figure follows the 2026 federal rules listed on the methodology page.

Florida levies no individual income tax on residents, so no state income tax is withheld: state withholding = 0 for every pay period, filing status and wage level. Florida Constitution Art. VII Sec. 5: 'No tax upon estates or inheritances or upon the income of natural persons who are residents or citizens of the state shall be levied by the state'; Fla. Stat. 220.02 restates the intent that no income tax be levied on natural persons. Florida reemployment (unemployment) tax is paid by employers only; employers must not make payroll deductions for it (Florida Department of Revenue), so there is no employee-paid state payroll contribution. No state withholding certificate exists.

Florida paycheck questions
How much is taken out of a paycheck in Florida?
Federal income tax, Social Security (6.2% on wages up to $184,500 in 2026) and Medicare (1.45%). Florida adds no state income tax. Whatever else you see on your stub, such as insurance or retirement, is a deduction you chose or your employer offers.
Is there a Florida state income tax on wages?
No. The Florida Constitution, Article VII, Section 5, says no tax on the income of natural persons who are residents or citizens of the state shall be levied by the state.
Do Florida employees pay reemployment tax?
No. The Florida Department of Revenue says employers pay reemployment tax and must not make payroll deductions for it. It will not appear as a deduction on your check.
How do I calculate a Florida salary after taxes?
Enter your yearly salary, choose how often you are paid and pick your filing status. The calculator subtracts federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare from each paycheck and shows the annual totals beside the per-paycheck figures.
Why does my Florida pay stub differ from the estimate?
Usual reasons are pre-tax benefits, a different W-4, extra withholding, or a bonus paid on its own. Your payroll provider's figures are the final word. The estimate shows what the published 2026 federal formula produces for the inputs you enter.
