About
PaycheckCalculatorUS is a set of free paycheck, take-home pay and payroll calculators. You enter your pay, and the calculator applies federal income tax withholding, Social Security, Medicare and your state's rules to estimate what lands in your account. Every page shows the tax year it uses.
Where the numbers come from
Federal income tax follows the IRS Publication 15-T percentage method. The FICA rates come from IRS Topic 751, and the Social Security wage base comes from the Social Security Administration's contribution and benefit base page. State figures come from each state's own agency, for example the Georgia Department of Revenue employer's tax guide, the Michigan Treasury withholding guide, the Ohio Department of Taxation withholding formula and the Virginia Tax employer withholding tables.
The methodology page lists every table with its source link, so you can open the official document and compare.
How tables are versioned
Each table carries a tax year, the date it starts to apply, the date it stops applying and the date we last checked it against the source. When an agency publishes new rates, the table is updated and those dates change with it.
How often it changes
New calculators are added every week. Existing tables are rechecked when the agencies publish updates, such as a mid-year state rate change or a new annual guide.
What this site is not
The results are estimates. They are not tax advice, and the site does not file anything for you or talk to your employer or any tax agency. Your real paycheck depends on your payroll system, your Form W-4 and deductions we cannot see. The terms cover this in full.
Reporting an error
If a result looks wrong, email hello@paycheckcalculatorus.com. The contact page says what to include so we can reproduce it.
How the site makes money
Today it does not. A paid pay-stub PDF is planned, and display ads may come later. The calculators will stay free to use.
