How this calculator works

Enter a salary, or an hourly rate and the hours you work each week. For hourly pay the calculator multiplies by 52 weeks and pays overtime hours at 1.5 times your rate. It then divides the year's pay by your pay frequency to get one paycheck.

Federal income tax uses the 2026 percentage method from IRS Publication 15-T, with the filing status and W-4 settings you enter. Social Security is 6.2% of wages, up to $184,500 for the year. Medicare is 1.45%, plus 0.9% on wages over $200,000.

A 401(k) or 403(b) contribution lowers the wages used for income tax, but Social Security and Medicare still apply to them. Health, dental, vision, HSA and FSA deductions lower both.

This page covers federal tax only. Pick your state above to add its income tax and any state payroll deductions.

Every rate comes from an official source and is listed on the methodology page.
